Best Keto Fast Food Orders (20g Carbs or Less)
Keto at a drive-thru is a subtraction problem. The protein is almost always fine; it’s the bun, the tortilla, the breading, and the fries that blow up your carb count. So we ran the numbers on our 100-chain database of composed meals — 1,575 real orders with verified macros — and pulled every one that lands at 20g of carbs or less.
325 orders qualified. 159 come in under 10g. And 24 orders are flat 0g of carbs. Keto fast food is not a niche; it’s most of the meat-and-fish menu once you strip the starch. Below are the standouts, grouped by the kind of place you’re standing in, with the specific swap that gets each one there.
Burger joints: go bunless or lettuce-wrapped
Every major burger chain will hand you the patty without the bun. The macros are excellent because a burger is mostly protein and fat to begin with — the bun is where the carbs live.
- In-N-Out — Flying Dutchman: 1g carbs, 30g protein, 380 cal. Two patties, two slices of cheese, nothing else. It’s an off-menu order that exists precisely for this. The #1 keto pick on this list for how clean the ratio is.
- In-N-Out — Double-Double Protein Style: 12g carbs, 30g protein. “Protein Style” means the whole burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. The 12g comes from the spread and tomato — still comfortably keto.
- Five Guys — Bunless Bacon Cheeseburger: 1g carbs, 44g protein. Order any Five Guys burger “bunless” and it arrives in a bowl or wrapped in foil. Big protein, big fat — a true keto meal, not a snack.
- Smashburger — Truffle Mushroom Swiss, Lettuce Wrap: 1g carbs, 27g protein. Smashburger wraps any burger on request.
- Red Robin — The Wedgie: 18g carbs, 40g protein. A lettuce-wrapped burger that’s a full sit-down entrée. Higher carb than the others here but still under the line.
- Burger King — Whopper No Bun: 8g carbs, 20g protein. The flame-grilled patty, cheese, and veggies with the bun dropped. Skip the ketchup to keep it at 8g.
The universal move: say “no bun” or “lettuce wrap” / “protein style.” Every chain in this section supports it, and the carb drop is 30–40g in one sentence.
Wings and fried-chicken chains: skip the breading, skip the sauce
Naked wings and grilled tenders are among the lowest-carb orders anywhere — plain wings are literally 0g carbs. The traps are the breading and the sugary sauces.
- Wingstop — 10pc Plain Classic Wings: 0g carbs, 100g protein. Bone-in, unsauced. A hundred grams of protein with zero carbs.
- Buffalo Wild Wings — 10 Traditional Wings, no sauce: 0g carbs, 88g protein. Order a dry rub instead of a wet sauce — the wet sauces are where sugar sneaks in.
- Popeyes — 8-Piece Blackened Tenders: 5g carbs, 69g protein, 5g fat. Blackened, not battered — the single leanest fried-chicken-chain keto order here.
- Zaxby’s — 5pc Traditional Wings, No Sauce: 0g carbs, 42g protein.
- Slim Chickens — 6 Grilled Tenders: 0g carbs, 66g protein.
Rule of thumb: bone-in wings unsauced, or grilled/blackened tenders. Boneless wings are breaded and carry carbs; the wet sauces add sugar. Both are avoidable.
Sub and sandwich shops: order it “in a tub” or “unwich”
Every serious sandwich chain now has a no-bread format. The fillings were always keto — the bread was the problem.
- Firehouse Subs — New York Steamer in a Bowl (L): 6g carbs, 61g protein. All the meat and cheese, served in a bowl.
- Jimmy John’s — J.J. Gargantuan Unwich: 12g carbs, 65g protein. “Unwich” = the whole sub rolled in lettuce. The Gargantuan is stacked with six meats.
- Jersey Mike’s — #9 Club Supreme in a Tub: 10g carbs, 47g protein. “In a Tub” is Jersey Mike’s bunless bowl.
- Subway — Chicken & Bacon Ranch No Bready Bowl: 12g carbs, 52g protein. Subway’s “No Bready Bowl” line is purpose-built for this.
The keyword changes by brand — Unwich, Sub in a Tub, No Bready Bowl, in a Bowl — but they’re the same idea. See the full Firehouse Subs menu or Jimmy John’s menu for every no-bread option.
Steakhouses and seafood: the naturally-keto category
A plain steak or a grilled fillet is already a keto meal. No swaps required — you just have to hold the starch side.
- Outback — Melbourne Porterhouse 22 oz: 1g carbs, 83g protein. The single highest-protein keto order in the whole database.
- Outback — Center-Cut Sirloin 11 oz: 1g carbs, 70g protein, 12g fat. Leaner than the porterhouse if you want less fat.
- Chili’s — Classic Ribeye (no sides): 0g carbs, 67g protein.
- Long John Silver’s — 3pc Baked Cod: 0g carbs, 78g protein, 3g fat. Baked, not battered — 0 carbs and almost no fat.
- Ruby Tuesday — Grilled Salmon: 0g carbs, 53g protein.
At a steakhouse the only keto discipline is the side: swap the potato, rice, or bread basket for steamed vegetables or a side salad and the plate stays under 10g.
Fast-casual Mexican: the “keto bowl” builds
Burrito chains let you build a bowl with no rice, no beans, no tortilla — and several now sell a named keto version.
- Qdoba — Keto Bowl (Chicken): 11g carbs, 33g protein.
- Chipotle — Chicken Keto Salad Bowl: 16g carbs, 41g protein. Supergreens base, meat, cheese, guac — no rice or beans.
- CAVA — Braised Lamb Keto Greens Bowl: 16g carbs, 36g protein.
- Taco Bell — Cantina Chicken Bowl, no rice/beans: 5g carbs, 20g protein. Even Taco Bell has a sub-10g order once you drop the rice and beans.
The two carb traps to watch
- Sauce and dressing. BBQ, honey mustard, teriyaki, and most wing sauces are sugar-forward. The wings above are 0g because they’re unsauced. Ask for dry rubs, oil-and-vinegar, ranch, or blue cheese instead.
- “Boneless” and “crispy.” Boneless wings and crispy tenders are breaded — that breading is the carb. Bone-in wings and grilled/blackened tenders skip it entirely.
The pattern across all 325 qualifying orders is the same: the protein was never the problem. Drop the bun, the tortilla, the breading, and the sweet sauce, and almost any menu has a keto order hiding in it.
